The Playgrounds and Public Open Space Strategic Plan 2025–2035 sets the Shire’s direction for managing, upgrading, and developing playgrounds and public open spaces over the next decade.

The plan:

  • prioritises renewal of existing assets
  • outlines a staged works program with indicative costs
  • updates recommendations from the 2014 Public Open Space Review and the 2015–2025 Strategic Plan

It also establishes a consistent management approach to ensure public spaces are safe, inclusive, well‑maintained and support high‑quality play opportunities.

What’s Been Achieved & Next Steps

Over the past 10 years, the Shire has delivered major improvements across local parks and playgrounds, including:

  • 12 renewed playgrounds
  • 6 local parks converted to landscaped public open space

These works followed the priorities set in the 2015–2025 plan.

Building on this progress, the Shire has now reviewed the remaining locations to confirm updated priorities, classifications and investment requirements for the 10 sites still identified for renewal or development.
